It has been almost 3 years since the COVID-19 pandemic started. Global changes abruptly came into our lives, but the recovery was quite slow and inconsistent depending on countries, cultures, and even personal beliefs about hygiene and infection. In the meantime, the general landscape of academia has also changed, from subjects, methodology of research, and delivery methods of behavioral interventions to citation trends of scientific articles. Irrespective of whether one has accommodated oneself to novel changes from pandemic or not, the changes are inevitable, and the Editorial Boards of the Journal of the Korean Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry also agree that it’s time to deal with the challenge of the pandemic in our journal. Invaluable articles have been submitted from inside and outside Korea, and we have selected three research focusing on mental health changes and school-based mental health policies during the pandemic. As there are tremendous issues to explore regarding changes due to COVID-19, we have decided to allow more space to the articles regarding it, published it in the issue of our journal.

Apart from a section for the pandemic, the Special Article section is going to resume from the new year. In the year 2023, issues relating to autism spectrum disorder (ASD), including savant skills in the people with ASD, and more emerging but important topics, including non-suicidal self-injury, digital therapeutics, and digital adversity, will be discussed in the Special Article section. Since fostering cultural diversity is one of the essential missions of our journal, we are eagerly waiting for research from all around the globe. It will enrich our academic experience and will help in expanding the readers’ perspectives and allow more comprehensive understanding for the phenomena of mental health, not confined to the clinical population.

Further, we have taken one of the most prospective decisions about the form of our journal. After 41 years of publication, from the January issue of the year 2023, we are saying farewell to paper form of publication, leaving electronical as the only form. Paper has a unique history, and some might feel nostalgic to the touch and smell of the books delivered to their postbox periodically. However, with a collective opinion and following the flow of the epoch, the readers will meet our journal in various citations, hopefully in a more efficient way. Along with this, the title of our journal in the citation will change from Soa Chongsonyon Chongsin Uihak, which very uniquely followed syllables from Korean, to Journal of the Korean Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. I hope our new name would approach readers and researchers from all around the world in a more familiar and intimate manner.
